10 October 2020

According to Najran Health Affairs, the Medication Home Delivery Service dubbed «Last Mile» has been launched, in collaboration with the Saudi Post; to deliver medicines to homes of patients registered at hospitals of the region.

“Medicines are delivered through temperature-controlled shipping containers designed for the transport of pharmaceutical products to save patients the burden of visiting hospitals to receive their medicines,” stated the Affairs.

The Affairs added that the service has been launched at New Najran General Hospital, and will gradually expand in phases to the rest of the hospitals in the region. The service targets home care patients, people with disabilities, people with chronic diseases, virtual clinic patients, patients with low immunity, oncology patients, and psychiatric patients.

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Health (MOH) has earlier signed an agreement with the Saudi Post to deliver medicines prescribed by MOH’s hospitals and healthcare centers to patients’ homes. This comes as a part of the ongoing efforts to develop their relationship through the so-called «Last Mile» service launched by the Saudi Post. The agreement aims to gradually cover about 284 hospitals and healthcare centers across the Kingdom; to deliver prescriptions to patients’ homes through temperature-controlled shipping containers.
