Dammam Medical Complex: Endoscopic Removal of Urethral Stone from a Lady
18 December 2017
A medical team at Dammam Medical Complex has successfully conducted a first-of-its-kind 4-hour endoscopic surgery to remove a left urethral stone from a lady in her 40 without complications. Then, she was discharged in good health.

“This type of stones does not respond to common pulverization procedures; so, they may not be removed. In addition, it is not easy to remove them surgically due to uterine polyps. So, the medical team of the urology department decided to conduct an unprecedented endoscopic surgical intervention through small abdominal incisions; using a hi-tech camera to enlarge the image 10 times more. Accordingly, doctors will have a clear visibility which ensures a more precise procedure. Such surgeries, mostly, do not require long patient hospitalization due to little pains. This surgery, indeed, marks a qualitative shift in surgical intervention.”, states the Complex’s Management.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has launched recently the (e-health) application to facilitate access to visual medical consultations on smartphones.
