20 June 2016
The Ministry of Health (MOH) continues its unstinting efforts to provide the best health services to the minor pilgrimage passengers in the holy month of Ramadan, in terms of equipping and supporting the hospitals and health centers in Makkah with medicines, medical supplies, and qualified cadres that work around the clock.

The Chairman of the Hajj Preparatory Committees and Supervisor-General of the Health Services for Hajj and Umrah General Department at the MOH, Dr. Hussein Ghannam, pointed out that the Ministry has allocated and equipped two health centers inside the Grand Mosque (Al-Masjid Al-Haram), namely: Health Center No. (1); which is located on the first floor of King Fahd expansion between the gates numbers (84-88), and Health Center No. (2); which is located at Al Mas'a gallery in the basement next to Al-Salam gate.

Furthermore, two health centers were provided in the courtyards of Al-Masjid Al-Haram. The first center is located in the eastern expansion next to Makkah Library, while the second one is in Al-Shabeekah area at the beginning of Jabal Al Kaabah, in addition to Ajyad Hospital, which runs as an emergency hospital throughout the year. The hospital receives the emergency and critical cases that need to be hospitalized at the Intensive Care Unit (with 12-bed capacity) and the emergency and critical cardiac cases that need to be hospitalized at the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (with 8-bed capacity), in addition to the emergency cases that require surgical intervention and are referred to hospitals of the Holy City after getting the needed first aid.

"These health facilities were fully equipped, and the health centers of Al-Masjid Al-Haram as well as Ajyad Hospital have been supported in Ramadan season with several medical specialties. Also, the number of the ambulance teams, centralized around the courtyards of Al-Masjid Al-Haram, amounts to four medical teams. Each one consists of a doctor and two nurses, whose mission is to stay and provide medical aid in case of emergency," Dr. Ghannam said.
