Laboratories and Blood Banks General Department at the Ministry of Health (MOH) participated in the 15th meeting of the Arab Authority for Blood Transfusion Services, which was held at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo on April 6-7, 2016.
During the meeting, the participants conferred about a number of topics and recommendations. They exchanged views on update of the Authority's statutes and internal regulations and the latest developments of the plasma derivatives project which was suggested by the Kingdom and approved by the Council of Arab Health Ministers in 2011.
They underlined the importance of raising blood safety's level using modern technologies for detecting blood-borne diseases, organizing advanced training courses for blood bank workers and preparing a rare blood groups' record for the Arab World. During the meeting, Egypt was named head of the Authority for the second term. Also, they agreed on holding the 11th pan-Arab conference in Morocco in 2017.
