01 September 2015
Thanks be to Allah, the MOH's Referral Program (Ehalati) has managed to save the lives of 106 patients, after receiving specialized services at the reference hospitals, and referred 4.504 others over the period from August 23rd to 28th, 2015 (corresponding to Dhul-Qi‘dah 8th s to 14th, 1436H). This comes as part of the unstinting support given for providing specialized therapeutic services amongst the regions of the Kingdom.

This was announced by the Supervisor of the Ehalati Program, Mr. Suleiman Ahmad Al-Sharie, who revealed that out of the referred cases to the specialized and reference hospitals, 2,895 patients (amounting to 64.3%) were approved, 1,155 cases (at a rate of 25.6%) are still being considered, while 276 cases (6.1%) received their treatment in the same hospital, and 178 cases (4%) were placed on the waiting list, and will be handled in the coming period depending on the health condition.

Mr. Al-Sharie pointed out that the life-saving cases amounted to 106, at a rate of 2.35%, whereas the emergency cases amounted to 1011 (22.45%). Inpatients amounted to 1,067 (23.69%), and the cases referred to the outpatient clinics amounted to 2,320 cases (51.51%) of all referred cases.

It's worth mentioning that ‘Ehalati’ Program is reckoned one of the new e-programs carried out by the Ministry of Health. Advantages of the program include providing medical counseling among physicians in the various medical facilities to discuss the health situation of the patient without the need for transferring him. It also provides all the logistic and coordination-related requirements to refer the patient from one medical facility to another. In addition, it provides an accurate archiving and statistical system, which contains information of the referred patients through the program in the Kingdom’s hospitals.
