Today, a workshop was concluded in Riyadh for coordinators of the Elderly Care Program in the regions, organized by the MOH’s Centers and Programs Affairs General Directorate over two days. The said workshop aims at distributing the roles and identifying a mechanism for applying the Elderly Care Program. It also aims at completing the executive plan of the program; following up applying it in the regions, discussing the achieved aspects of the last year’s plan, and discussing the mechanism of applying the executive plan during the current year.
Dr. Maison Al-Amoud, coordinator of MOH’s Elderly Care Program, explained that this workshop is the first to be held this year, and will be followed by a number of workshops and meetings, Allah willing. She added that the workshop targets coordinators of the Elderly Care Program in all regions and governorates.
She pointed out that 1484 trainees were trained last year including 680 doctors and 804 nurses. She highlighted also that the program has trained 4185 trainees since 1431 H in order to apply the National Protocol of Elderly Healthcare, provide them with comprehensive and integrated health services, promote health of the elderly and generalize the program to all primary healthcare centers in all regions.
Moreover, Dr. Maison stressed that applying the Elderly Healthcare Program started in Jumada I, 1433H at the primary healthcare centers in all health directorates of the regions that have been qualified for applying the first phase of the program. These centers were equipped with the necessary supplies to apply the program such as files and records of the elderly healthcare, guide of the elderly healthcare, and guide of procedures and actions of the elderly healthcare program at the primary healthcare centers. During the first six months of applying the program, a total number of 7004 old age persons have been included in the program in all qualified centers for applying the Elderly Healthcare Program in all regions of the Kingdom.
