Dr. AL-Howasi Chairs the Kingdom’s Delegation to WHO Meetings

His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Health for Health Affairs, Dr. Mansour Al-Howasi, is to chair the delegation of the Ministry of Health (MOH) participating in the meeting of the 66th session for the General Assembly of the World Health Organization (WHO), held in Geneva over the period 20-28 May, 2013 (corresponding to10-18 Rajab 1434H).
 
The MOH spokesman, Dr. Khalid bin Muhammad Marghalani, pointed out that the meeting will discuss various all health topics and activities listed on the agenda, which concern the member states. During the meeting, decisions designed to develop the global health domain are to be issued.
 
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Executive Board of the Council of the Arab Ministers of Health and the 40th regular session of the mentioned Council are to be held, and they will discuss the health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem, the Eastern territory and the occupied Syrian Golan.
In addition, a detailed report on the health conditions are to be listened from the Palestinian Minister of Health, in order to provide all forms of support and help for the Palestinian people, as well as supporting the Republic of Sudan to combat the spread of the yellow fever in Darfur by providing vaccines required to eliminate the epidemic, and work to control it by managing this health and humanitarian crisis, and sending specialized medical staff to address the consequences of the negative effects of this yellow fever.
 
Upon request from the Saudi Ministry of Health, the meeting will discuss the ethics of organ transplantations, in order to review a presentation of the Saudi Health Services Council’s recommendations on dealing with patients, who have undergone organ transplantation, in a manner that violates the international standards.
 
The meeting will also discuss the formation of the Executive Office of the Council of the Arab Ministers of Health, and the unified speech of the Council before the 66th session of the General Assembly of the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as discussing the updates of works, and the request submitted by the Kingdom to include the issue of the novel Coronavirus to the agenda.
 
In the same vein, the 75th conference of the Board of Health Minister’s Council for GCC states will be held on the sidelines of the meeting; in order to discuss the ways of combating the non-communicable diseases, giving up smoking, the professional health, and the expats. That's o be added to discussing the ways of turning the Arabian Peninsula to be free of malaria, evaluating Qatar's Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Hospital in Doha and discussing the latest news.
It is noteworthy that the Saudi delegation comprises the Deputy Minister of health for Public Health, Dr. Ziad Memish, the Director General for Infectious Diseases, Dr. Ra’fat Al-Hakim, the Director General of Hereditary and Chronic Diseases Control, Dr. Mohammad Al-Sa'eedi, and the Head of Infectious Diseases Division at Prince Sultan Military Medical City (PSMMC), Col. Dr. Ali bin Mansour Al-Barrak.
