MOH Accomplishes a Successful Experiment to Raise the Awareness of Pilgrims Boarding Plans and Buses
24 October 2012
The Ministry of Health (MOH) has successfully accomplished its first experiment in the raising the awareness of pilgrims boarding plans and buses, in cooperation with the Saudi airlines.

The supervisor of health awareness during Hajj, Dr. Abdulrahman bin Yahia Al-Qahtani, has revealed that the Ministry has carried out, this year, the first attempt to distribute health-awareness-related educational brochures to the drawers of seats of planes and buses. The Ministry has printed 25.000 brochures, benefitting all the Saudi airlines transporting pilgrims, by keeping such brochures in the drawers of seats, along with the Aviation and Safety Guidelines.

“This experimental step proved great success,” said Dr. Al-Qahtani, “and witnessed considerable turnout from pilgrims, insomuch as many of them were interested in obtaining the brochures, especially when knowing that such brochures and guidelines are replete with the prayers and 'azkar', in addition to the graphical images.

Dr. Al-Qahtani declared that the Ministry intends to adopt and unify this experiment, by doubling the number of brochures to 1.000.000 copies during next Hajj season, Allah willing. That's to be added to providing airline companies with health-awareness movies to be screened to passengers (Hajj and Umrah pilgrims during their flights).

It is noteworthy, the brochures touch upon a diversity of topics, including the ways to avoid infection and diseases, general health tips and guidelines (putting on a face-mask, using an umbrella, using shavers soundly, eating healthy food, keeping food properly, etc.), in addition to specific health tips for patients who take certain medicines regularly, as well as many other miscellaneous health tips and guidelines.
