Dr. Al-Howasi Declares Establishing Three New Centers for Cardiac Diseases
06 January 2013
Within the framework of the National Project for Comprehensive and Integrated Health Care, aiming at achieving justice and inclusiveness in terms of distributing the medical services, its accessibility and affordability, and seeking to provide the best health services for citizens and comforting them according to the directives and aspirations of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, May Allah protect them, in order to cope with the rise of population number, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has approved establishing 3 new centers for cardiac diseases treatment. This comes as part of its budget for the current fiscal year 1434/1435H. This brings the number of the specialized centers of cardiac diseases treatment affiliated to the Ministry of Health (MOH) to 12 specialized medical centers, spread throughout the Kingdom's regions and governorates.

This was stated by the Deputy Minister for Health Affairs, Dr. Mansour Al-Howasi drawing attention to the fact that these centers are to be established in Jizan, Tabuk, and Ta'if. Their cost amounts to SR 360 million, with 100-bed capacity for each center.

Meanwhile, he added that the Ministry of Health (MOH) currently has 9 specialized centers for cardiac diseases treatment; they include Prince Salman Heart Center at the King Fahad Medical City in Riyadh, Heart Center at the King Abdullah Medical City in Makkah,  Saud Al-Babtain Cardiac Center in the Eastern Region, Prince Sultan Cardiac Center, Hofuf; Al-Ahsa, Cardiac Center in Hail, Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Mosaad Center in the Northern Borders Province,  Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Cardiac Center in Najran, Cardiac Center in Madinah, and Cardiac Center at the King Fahad Center in Jeddah.

Further, Dr. Al-Howasi has affirmed that the number of patients with cardiac diseases referred among the Kingdom's peripheral regions to the central regions has declined. This is due to the spread of 9 advanced centers for cardiac diseases treatment and surgery affiliated to the Ministry of Health (MOH) in more than a region, in addition to the specialized clinics located in the MOH's hospitals in the regions and provinces. As such, these advanced centers have contributed, through what they provide of specialized services, to reducing the cases referred for treatment in the main cities, as these services are provided to cardiac patients in their domicile, and avoiding them the hardship and trouble of travelling outside their regions. Additionally, the MOH's future plan, as part of its national project for the fully fledged and comprehensive health care, involves expanding in establishing these centers to include the entire regions of the Kingdom.

On the other hand, Dr. Al-Howasi Highlighted the support and interest the health services enjoy from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and HRH the Crown Prince, the Deputy prime Minister and Minister of Defense and Aviation, Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz, May Allah protect them, and their incessant keenness on the necessity of providing the best health services for all citizens all over the Kingdom.

Concluding his statement, Dr. Al-Howasi made clear that the Ministry of Health (MOH) currently witnesses inclusive, developmental boom and quantum leap regarding all its services and facilities; all of which are harnessed for the patient's service and safety and gaining their satisfaction. As such, it has carried out a host of programs aiming at serving patients and upgrading the services provided for them, under the theme "Patient Comes First."

It is noteworthy that the new developmental projects approved in the MOH's budget for this year were earmarked SR 5 billion.
