Minister of Health Inspects Work Progress at Eastern Riyadh New Hospital

His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeah inspected work progress at Eastern Riyadh new Hospital, which accommodates 500 beds at a total cost of 455 million SR, and stands at an area of more than 120 thousand square meters.
During his inspection field visit today, Dr. Al Rabeeah revealed that the hospital will be completed and ready to provide health services by the end of next year. Such a huge hospital will be a significantly real addition to the MOH’s hospitals in Riyadh, he added.
Dr. Al Rabeeah and some of MOH’s officials viewed the last construction stages of the Hospital project that is implemented by Projects and Engineering Affairs Department at the Ministry.  During that field visit, they viewed the general facilities and the completed parts of the project in the last period.
In this context, General Supervisor of Projects and Engineering Affairs Department, Eng. Ahmed Al Baiz clarified that construction works have reached over 85% of the total project, pointing out that the project is implemented by the contractor as planned. The project of Eastern Riyadh Hospital will include buildings for outpatient and emergency, 11 surgery rooms and 3 one-day surgery rooms.
The project will also include a large parking lot that can accommodate up to over 550 cars. In addition, It will include admission and surgical care wards (male and female), a Burns Unit (16 beds), Operation Theaters, an Endoscopy Unit, a One-day Surgery Ward, a Renal Dialysis Unit (25 beds for males and 23 beds for females), a mosque, and services building that includes a water tank, pump rooms, reservoir tank assembly, a treatment plant, electricity rooms, and one tank for oxygen in addition to others for fuel.
On the other hand, Eng. Hamad Al Luhaidan, the director of the hospital project, stated that the project consists of the main building, located in the center of the project. He elaborated that the main building contains all needed medical services, including so many units for Surgery, Radiation, Emergency, Burns and Laboratory in addition to the Blood Bank. It also includes Intensive and Medium Care Units, Pharmacy, Patients’ Rooms and Suites, Outpatient Clinics, and a Physical Therapy Department. He points out that such a main building is envisioned to offer a wide range of services necessary for treatment and the comfort of patients, such as the laundry, the kitchen, the central sterilization unit, and the medical gas plant.
Furthermore, the main building consists of a basement with a 591 cars capacity parking lot, a Morgue, the central pharmacy, electromechanical equipment plant, maintenance and storages. It additionally includes the main corridors, stairways and elevators.
As for the ground floor, it consists of the main lobby, the administration, medical records, library, classrooms, lecture hall, Procurement and Finance Department, dining halls, laboratories, Blood Bank, Radiation Unit, Emergency Unit, Rehabilitation Center (physical therapy), Outpatient Clinics, and the back lobby, in addition to (services: elevators, ladders and storages). On the other hand, the clinics include internal medicine, respiratory, pediatrics, gynecology, dentistry, diabetes, urology, dermatology, kidney diseases.
