The General Supervisor of King Saud Medical Complex (KSMC) Dr. Adnan Abdul Kareem said KSMC intensive care unit is the largest in the region. He said the unit has been founded in 1428H with a capacity of 41 beds, then expanded to 81 beds in 1429H.
"The latest expansion, which has been launched recently by Dr. Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Al-Rabeeah includes 102 beds", he said. "This is expected to rise further to 141 beds upon completion of the project".
He said the annual operational rate of the unit is 97%, which will increase the number of patients to reach 2000 by next year. "The total medical manpower required to operate the unit is 560, including specialists, physicians, nurses, technicians, etc", he said.
On his part, the ICU president Dr. Amin M. Yousef, asserted commitment to international standards with regard to service quality, medical equipment, and manpower.
