Reference guidebook on H1N1 issued
17 October 2009
The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, in their efforts to notify the public on the different issues surrounding H1N1, have published a practical scientific guidebook for dealing with the disease, said MOH Official Spokesman Dr. Khalid Al-Marghalani.

MOH has derived its precautionary measures by updating its own national plan for controlling the epidemic and through seeking the help of WHO guidelines on the ways of dealing with the disease, including the measures to be taken at schools and universities.

The move comes within an overall awareness campaign launched by the two ministries at schools and universities for the purpose of providing a basic background on ways of transmission and prevention. The campaign mainly concentrates on boosting healthy behaviour and informing the public on the preventive precautionary measures taken by MOH.

The scientific content of the guidebook has been revised by the MOH National Scientific Committee, whereas the duties of both the schoolmaster and the school's health coordinator have been revised by an executive committee at the Ministry of Education.

The guidebook targets all staff at governmental and private schools, intellectual education schools, and schools of those of special needs. The school children and caretakers are also involved.
