28 December 2008
The Minister of Health Dr. Hamad bin Abdullah Al-Mane extended his appreciations to the Royal Court for the special care offered to health services by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and HRH the Crown Prince.

In a press statement issued on the occasion of the announcement of the new budget, Dr. Al-Mane said the generous support offered to health services had its effects on upgrading the performance of health facilities and had placed the Kingdom at a forward position in the field of health expenditure (22nd in the world).

He said the share of MOH from the budget will enable it to accomplish a number of health projects, including the Health Belt hospitals, the primary health care project, development of the infrastructure of 22 hospitals, and upgrading the system of health information. "86 new hospitals are now under construction in the different parts of the Kingdom with a total bed capacity of 11750 beds", he said.

He said MOH has utilized all financial allotments during the fiscal year 1428/1429, whether such allotments were in accordance with chapter 1, chapter 2, or operation contracts of chapter 3 in the budget. "We have recorded a 100% expenditure on the four chapters of the budget", he said.
