Al-Hawasi presides CCHI meeting
03 November 2008
On behalf of His Highness the Minister of Health and Chairman of the Council of Cooperative Health Insurance (CCHI) Dr. Hamad bin Abdullah Al-Mane, the MOH Deputy Minister for Executive Affairs Dr. Mansour bin Nasser Al-Hawasi presided yesterday the CCHI meeting in presence of all members. The meeting approved the agenda of the previous meeting, including the important decisions taken, then moved to discuss a number of issues relative to effectuating the Cooperative Health Insurance Bylaw.

"The meeting discussed the Secretariat General proposal regarding the amendments to be introduced to the Bylaw of Qualifying Companies for Handling Health Insurance Claims", said CCHI Director General Dr. Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Shareef. "It also reviewed the issue of treating insured patients outside the Kingdom", he added.

He said the meeting reviewed the first annual report of the CCHI Secretariat General as well as the report on the work of the Customers' Service Center, which had activated its services since last Ramadan for informing CCHI customers on the activities of the council and providing them detailed information on qualified insurance companies.

It is worth mentioning that since Cooperative Health Insurance has been implemented, the number of insured persons has exceeded 5,000,000 (five million) people.  The CCHI Secretary General urged all concerned bodies to contract as soon as possible with insurance companies qualified by CCHI in order to avoid violation against Article 14 of the Cooperative Health Insurance Bylaw.
Dr. Al-Sharif also warned qualified health insurance companies in the Kingdom not to exceed the price limits fixed for insurance policies.
