Dr. Al-Mane launches RMC e-prescription system
09 June 2007
Dr. Hamad bin Abdullah Al-Mane launched yesterday morning the e-prescription system at the Medical Education Hall, Dentistry Department, Riyadh Medical Complex (RMC), in presence of the Minister of Waters and Electricity Eng Abdullah Al-Haseen, MOH Undersecretaries, and a number of officials.

The program started by recitation from the holy Koran, followed by a video presentation of RMC history. Then RMC General Supervisor Dr. Adnan Al-Abdul Kareem delivered a speech in which he reviewed the old system of prescription. He said the old system required the patient to carry his file, including medical analyses, x-ray, and other relative documents, which in many cases were subject to loss. All such disadvantages had lead the Minister of Health to issue his directives for urgent computerization of the different RMC medical, technical, and administrative divisions for ensuring safe keeping of all medical information, especially patient files.

He said RMC has now been fully computerized, including the reception, outpatient clinics, medical supply, inpatient units, pharmacies, the central lab, the blood bank, and the offices of the General Manager and General Supervisor. He said all information relative to patients have been included in the network, thus ensuring accuracy and safety of all medical steps.

Then the Minister of Health Dr. Hamed Al-Mane delivered a speech in which he expressed his gratitude for the efforts made in implementing the new system. He hailed the attendance of the Minister of Waters and Electricity and the role he had played in following the computerization process and relative studies for a long time. Describing the old system as being inappropriate, he said the new system has changed the image. He said the Ministry of Health shall go ahead for implementing the same example in all other health sectors.
