In line with the 1446 AH Hajj season, the Ministry of Health is ramping up its efforts to safeguard the health of pilgrims to the Holy Mosque and protect them from infectious diseases that can arise in large gatherings. Vaccinations remain one of the most effective preventive measures to strengthen immunity and minimize health risks before undertaking the pilgrimage rituals.
Each year, the Ministry updates its list of required and recommended vaccines in accordance with global health developments and the World Health Organization’s guidelines. This includes mandatory vaccines such as meningococcal meningitis and seasonal influenza, along with additional immunizations aimed at preventing respiratory illnesses and other communicable diseases among both domestic pilgrims and those arriving from abroad.
These vaccines are made available at primary healthcare centers and accredited facilities across the Kingdom well in advance of the Hajj season, with strict emphasis on receiving them within the specified period to ensure maximum protection.
The Ministry also places strong focus on public awareness, running targeted media and educational campaigns to inform pilgrims about the benefits of vaccination, how to access these services, and the groups for whom they are recommended. This proactive approach plays a key role in protecting both individuals and the wider community from disease transmission.
By adhering to the recommended immunizations, pilgrims help ensure not only their own safety but also the overall success of the Hajj season, achieving the highest standards of public health and safety, fully aligned with Saudi Vision 2030’s goal of enhancing quality of life and providing a safe, healthy environment for all Guests of Allah.
