According to Al-Ahsa Health Affairs, over the past year (2018), its affiliated hospitals performed 17,312 surgeries, with 10,255 scheduled and 7,057 emergency surgeries.
“The surgeries included 6,238 at Maternity and Children Hospital, 6,164 at King Fahd Hospital Al-Hofuf, 2,141 at Al-Jabr Nose, Ear, Throat and Eyes Hospital, 1,717 at Prince Saud bin Jalawi Hospital, in addition to 1,052 surgeries performed by Oyun City Hospital and Al-Jafar General Hospital,” stated the Affairs.
The Affairs added that 65% of the scheduled surgeries in the governorate came as part of the One-Day Surgery Program; as they are performed according to safe conditions and precise procedures. The patient is observed for limited hours while no need for hospitalization, an then discharged from hospital within 24 hours.
