According to the Northern Boarders Health Affairs, the Development and Behavioral Disorder Center of Maternity and Children Hospital-Arar has served more than 3,000 cases. The center aims at providing high-quality services of diagnosing and following up the developmental and behavioral disorders, in addition to psychiatric and social services. Also, the specialized health and rehabilitation services are provided at the center by qualified and skilled staff, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, speech therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and other specialists to develop children's growth and skills.
It is worth mentioning that the center, serving all areas of the Northern Borders Region, receives cases of autism spectrum disorders (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorders (ADHD), behavioral disorders (BD), speech delay (SD), cerebral palsy (CP), and syndromes of different types, in addition to cases requiring oral rehabilitation, especially those children with cochlear implants and hearing aids. The center features five clinics: a speech and language clinic, an occupational therapy clinic, a psychiatry clinic, a psychology clinic, and a social work clinic. Besides, the center is equipped with two waiting rooms for both males and females, as well as a children's playroom.
It is worth mentioning that the Northern Borders Health Affairs features ten specialized medical centers (a cardiac center, three diabetes centers, three kidney centers, and three dental centers), as well as 11 hospitals with a 1,410-bed capacity, which are enhanced with a number of delicate medical specialties such as: neurosurgery, heart surgery, bariatric surgery, endoscopy, and others. Besides, the Affairs has 48 primary healthcare centers.
