13 March 2019

In the presence of His Excellency, the Health Minister, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, MOH will organize next Sunday the First Nursing Forum at Prince Sultan Hall, Faisaliyah Hotel in Riyadh to appreciate the nursing profession as the cornerstone of the health care system. The forum comes in parallel with the initiative to appreciate the nursing profession, which is one of the initiatives of the 2020 National Transformation Program and in line with the Kingdom Vision 2030.

The initiative aims to highlight nursing's pivotal role in health system, by celebrating and appreciating distinguished nurses, shedding light on all aspects of the profession, and sharing nurses' inspirational stories and successes to motivate future generations to join the vital profession.

The forum will be attended by a number of speakers from the Kingdom and Arab countries to discuss an array of topics including the importance of nursing in the national healthcare system, nursing achievements in the Kingdom and other nursing issues.

The forum comes as a continuation of the campaign to appreciate the nursing profession launched at a number of hospitals and shopping malls across the Kingdom, with the participation of nurses, health workers and all community members. The events received more than 8,000 visitors, who were acquainted with the nursing profession and made over 2,000 cards of appreciation to nurses.

It is noteworthy that the forum will announce the names of distinguished nursing pioneers in the Kingdom for 2019, who were selected on the campaign's website. Out of 467 candidates, 8 nurses were selected as pioneers based on carefully designed standards.

It is noted that the forum's targeted group includes: nurses, nursing students, teaching staff, doctors and health practitioners. Around 1,000 persons are expected to take part in the forum.
