Abu Arish General Hospital: Patient’s Vertebra Successfully Restored

By Allah’s Grace, a team of physiotherapists at Abu Arish General Hospital has successfully restored a patient’s vertebra to normal; thus, relieving him completely from his lower back acute pains without any surgical intervention. The patient suffered from immobility, as well as inability to walk and sit due to such pains caused by his herniated L-5, with sever muscle spasm shown by the x-ray. He was checked by the physiotherapist who developed a treatment plan and a rehabilitation program, which focused first on relieving the pains and spasm of surrounding muscles.


In the second stage, the patient was given exercises to build his abdominal muscles and stretch his back muscles, with some therapeutic tactics to restore the herniated vertebra to normal position. After six regular session, joined with patient’s commitment to therapeutic instructions, his mobility highly improved and his pains greatly reduced. He started to practice his normal life. Radiology also confirmed his vertebra back in its normal position.

On the other hand, in its 2017 achievements report, MoH added 65 new healthcare centers, making all health centers across the Kingdom into 2,390 instead of 2,325. These centers have helped provide facility-based health services to over 300 thousand citizens. These centers have been enhanced with necessary manpower, appliances and medical supplies. Also, new 39 centers are designated to operate for longer hours up to 11:00pm. In so doing, 204 centers so far operate up to 11:00pm instead of 165 centers before. MoH seeks to provide comprehensive coverage across the Kingdom, to reduce congestion and to meet the beneficiaries’ needs. Hence, more manpower (highly trained doctors) have been supplied, in addition to training the existing medical and administrative staff and providing security services in all centers on duty.
