 King Abdullah Medical Complex-Jeddah: 76+ Thousand Patients Served in 6 Months

During the second half of 2017, King Abdullah Medical Complex-Jeddah provided 356,649 integrated therapeutic and ambulatory services to 76,983 patients. The emergency medical team - working 24/7 - served 35,165 patients, almost 45% miscellaneous cases ranging from serious to moderate. Over the same period, 38,515 cases were received by the outpatient clinics, including (orthopedics, injuries, ENT, ophthalmology, cardiac, dental, internal medicine, glands, rheumatology, chest, cardiovascular, speech, urology and dermatology). Also, the Complex provided medical services in other specialties, including (neurology, Kidney, mental and nutrition).


According to recent statistical data disseminated by the Complex, 1,958 were done in the same period. As well, the Physical Therapy Department conducted 10,523 sessions, while the lab and blood bank tested 306,604 samples, including biochemical tests, hematology and biopsies. The radiology section also did 37,564 scans in different specialties, including: General and CT, interventional radiology, MRI and ultra-sonic. 3,303 cases were also hospitalized.

It is also noted that MoH has increased the bed capacity of its hospitals in 2017 by 1822 beds, thus, making 43,675 beds in total instead of 41,835 beds. This is part of MoH’s endeavors to enhance hospital’s bed capacity for hospitalization and to reduce hospitalization waiting lists. By Allah’s Grace, this has positively improved MoH’s medical services and boosted patient satisfaction. To that end, MoH has inaugurated new hospitals, and geared up the present capacity of hospitals by recruiting more doctors and adding more beds.

In its 2017achievementsreport, MoH stated that one-day surgeries increased from 44% to 55% (with 112,095 one-day surgeries). Also, waiting lists were reduced through suppling health facilities with needed appliances for one-day surgeries, in addition to key indicators to increase the number of this type of surgeries.
