Hira General Hospital- Makkah: 1,833 Beneficiaries of Home Medicine Program

​Since its establishment until the first quarter of 1439H., Home Medicine Program (HMP) at Hira General Hospital has provided medical services to 1,833 registered patients. The program provides them with healthcare services at their homes and among their families without the need to visit the hospital except for emergency cases. 

 
According to Makkah Health Affairs, the program provides several medical, technical and nursing services to patients through a team comprising a physician, nurse (female or male), therapeutic nutrition specialist, physiotherapist and a social specialist. "The program targets older persons, bedridden, patients with chronic diseases, strokes and head trauma, as well as patients with bedsores, diabetic foot, respiratory and heart diseases", adds the Affairs. The team also dispenses medications, changes urinary catheters and feeding tubes, distributes supplements and food products as per patient's dietary condition. The team also conducts blood sampling and other necessary medical tests, in addition to treating wounds and bedsores. 

It is noteworthy that a number of devices have been provided for patients including electric beds and wheelchairs, oxygen generators, suction units, steam inhaler, and other devices for measuring blood oxygen, pressure and temperature, as well as electric jacks, air mattresses and ordinary wheelchairs.
