31 January 2018

According to Najran Health Affairs, a medical team at Maternity and Children Hospital has successfully saved the life of a lady suffering from lower abdomen pain, paleness and accelerated heart rate (tachycardia). She was brought to the emergency department with unstable vital signs. After due medical and radiological checkups, she was diagnosed with a large hematoma within the abdominal cavity which required immediate surgical intervention.

“The patient had abdominal exploratory surgery during which the medical team found sever bleeding from the left ovary, and in a safe medical procedure they managed to control it and saved her life, thank Allah. Also, they gave her blood products to replace lost blood”, added the Affairs.

The patient was transferred to the inpatient ward where she received the necessary healthcare. After her condition stabilized, she was discharged from the hospital.

It is noteworthy that, over the past year 2017, the hospital served 48,983 outpatients at the outpatient clinics, 131,836 at emergency department, 18,892 inpatients, 8,734 births, as well as 3,778 surgeries, 31,700 lab tests and 27,495 x-ray examinations.

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Health (MOH) has launched a daily specialization-based e-waiting list for surgical operations on its online portal. The list features MOH hospitals, along with surgical specialties and corresponding waiting days respectively, in addition to five levels for waiting days, starting from one to 180 days. By launching this initiative, MOH aims to update all patients and beneficiaries of services provided by its health facilities on the developmental efforts for boosting performance levels and providing high-quality services to satisfy and meet the health needs of citizens.
