Hira General Hospital: 30 Uterine Fibroids Resected from Lady in Her 30s
08 January 2018
According to Makkah Health Affairs, a medical team at the obstetrics and gynecology department of Hira General Hospital has successfully resected 30 benign uterine fibroids (sized from 0,5 to 7 cm.) from a 39-year-old Saudi lady. “These fibroids caused abdominal pains with menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding), which led to anemia for nearly a year. The patient suffered from severe constipation with urinary retention, due to the pressure of uterus and fibroids on the neighboring organs. The due medical procedures were conducted to stop the bleeding. After the anesthesiology department confirmed the patient’s readiness to the operating room, the medical team has successfully resected the fibroids, by Allah’s Grace”, added the Affairs.

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is currently implementing MOH's Performance Program «Adaa’», which aims to boost productivity, performance quality and efficiency of health services in hospitals. The program is in line with the strategic objectives of the National Transformation Program 2020 towards achieving the Saudi Vision 2030. The program covers 70 main hospitals and features over 40 indicators to measure the performance of seven key therapeutic aspects, which have positively reduced the waiting times.
