Imam Abdulrahman al-Faisal Hospital: First Three Spine Immobilization Surgeries Successful

A team of spinal surgeons has successfully conducted 3 spinal immobilization surgeries for the first time since the inauguration of Imam Abdulrahman al-Faisal Hospital for 3 traffic-accident patients in four weeks. All patients were hospitalized. After due CT and MRI scans, they were diagnosed with with spinal injuries. So, they were prepared for surgery.

The first patient had compression fractures of the brain, thoracic and lumbar vertebrae, as well as pressure on the spine due to spinal injuries. In an 8-hour surgery, the vertebrae were immobilized using bolts and metal stents. The pressure was released, joined with a bone graft. Thank Allah the patient was discharged from hospitals after recovery.

The second patient suffered from L-3 and L-4 fracture, in addition to pressure on the brachial plexus due to the traffic accident. After due medical checkups, he was diagnosed with with L-3 and L-4 fractures. The patient was prepared for the 5-hour surgery to immobilize the fractured vertebrae, to graft the bones, and to release the spinal pressure. A few days after, the patient was discharged for hospitals. Thank Allah, two weeks later, he visited the hospital walking.

As for the third patient, he had unstable L-2 fractures due to a traffic accident too. After due checkups, he was made ready for a surgery to immobilize his thoracic and lumbar vertebrae using bolts and bone graft. Two days after, he is put under convalescence. He is in good health and restored his mobility by Allah's Grace.
