MOH: Wash Your Hands Thoroughly to Prevent Spread of Infection in Winter
19 December 2017
The Ministry of Health (MOH) has underlined the importance of taking the influenza vaccine at the outset of winter. In order to curb the spread of the infection in the season, you should wash your hands with soap and water and dry them thoroughly, especially when sneezing or coughing, before and after eating, shaking hands with infected individuals, after using toilet and touching surfaces in public places such as door handles, stairs, elevator buttons and ATMs.

In an awareness infographic published on its twitter page, MOH advised everyone to avoid burning wood or coal in a closed place, to drink lots of water to avoid dehydration, to exercise regularly to boost your immunity and maintain a healthy weight, in addition to eating fiber and protein-rich food such as vegetables, fruits, oats, meat and legumes. Also, MOH called on individuals with chronic diseases such as asthma and diabetes to follow recommendations of their treating doctors and to visit emergency when necessary.

Such awareness-raising activities come in continuation of MOH's efforts to maintain the health and safety of all community members, to promote health awareness and to urge individuals to adopt healthy behaviors.
