By Allah’s Grace, Prince Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Bin Musa‘ed Cardiac Centre (PAAMCC) has been accredited as an international center for Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), and its location has been added on the world map. ECMO is the cutting-edge technology used to support heart and lungs in cases of their failure or extreme weakness following severe stroke, sometimes an open-heart surgery, respiratory failure due to acute pneumonia, or others.
Also, ECMO is an artificial heart-lung machine that can be connected to the patient for days and weeks, due to the aforementioned reasons. Currently, PAAMCC has been registered among the international centers using this technology. Thus, such registration in the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) will be positively reflected on the center’s level and reputation, as it has become an accredited training center using this technology and granting certificate in this field.
It is worth mentioning that the center received 3,555 patients and 251 inpatients, and performed 11 open-heart surgeries during last October.
