29 October 2017
The Ministry of Health (MOH) has activated the events of the World Breastfeeding Week under the theme: "Sustaining Breastfeeding Together" to encourage breastfeeding, promote and spread its culture and doing it properly, and to stress its vital importance to the baby, mother and community. The events also aim to promote breastfeeding as a human right for the baby during his first six months due to the fact that mother's milk is the natural source of food, and the importance of encouraging breastfeeding for infants and babies for a healthy life.

In an awareness infographic published on its Twitter page, MOH stressed the importance of not taking more than 300 milligrams of caffeine a day, which is found in energy drinks, soft drinks, chocolate and coffee.

Breastfeeding mother may take alternatives to caffeinated drinks including herbal tea, mineral water, caffeine-free coffee and tea, and fruit juice.

Within the same vein, MOH, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labor and Social Development represented by social development centers, has held an awareness workshop for 30 female trainees from guest houses supervision centers in Riyadh to brief them on breastfeeding encouragement program.
