King Fahd Hospital - Al-Hofouf: Youth's Leg Saved from Amputation

A medical team at King Fahd Hospital - Al-Hofouf has successfully treated a rare compound fracture of left leg of a young man in his 20s. He had a traffic accident causing 70% damage of his leg bones and surrounding skin. Referred by another hospital where the patient had an operation, he had a bacterial infection leading to a rare sophisticated case. Immediately, the medical team of  King Fahd Hospital did the needed checkups, followed by a surgery in which the infected bones were re-fixed using Ilizarov apparatus. By Allah's Grace, the operation was successful, the patient could walk again a day after and manage his normal life. Following due supervision, the apparatus was removed long enough after the surgery.

It is noted that  King Fahd Hospital - Al-Hofouf features a 502-bed capacity, and an elite of orthopedic consultants providing specialized and precise medical services; making the hospital a medical reference and model.

It is noted that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is currently implementing MOH's Performance Program, which aims to boost productivity, performance quality and efficiency of health services in hospitals. The program is in line with the National Transformation Program 2020 towards achieving the Saudi  Vision 2030. The program covers 70 hospitals and features over 40 indicators to measure the performance of seven key therapeutic aspects.
