11 October 2017
As part of the continuous developments at Children Hospital-Taif, a Drug and Poison Information Center (DPIC) has been launched at the hospital’s pharmacy department. DPIC will answer all drug-related inquiries on drug interactions, overdoses, usages and drug poisoning; to reduce medication errors and to promote the performance of all medical staff in the hospital.

In the same vein, about 5000 prescriptions were dispensed within a week, which included 37,379 types of medicines, most of which were for ENT (with 19,012), followed by 1,0911antibacterial drugs and 6,307 antipyretics.

It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is currently implementing MOH's Performance Program, which covers 70 main hospitals and aims to boost productivity, performance quality and efficiency of health services in hospitals. The program features over 40 indicators to measure the performance of seven key therapeutic aspects, including emergency, clinics, surgeries, hospitalization, ICU, radiology and labs. The program also aims to develop the skills of health professionals to use the indicators and to identify performance improvement potentials, in compliance with patient safety and quality standards.
