10 October 2017
A medical team at Hira General Hospital has successfully put an end to the suffering of a woman in her twenties with a tumor on her right ovary. According to Makkah Health Affairs, the patient was admitted to the clinic, while suffering chronic pelvic pains and abdominal swelling. After due medical examinations, she was diagnosed with a large ovarian tumor (sized 11cm). Then, she admitted into the operation room and the tumor was successfully resected. By Allah’s Grace, she recovered and was discharged from the hospital in a stable condition.
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is currently implementing MOH's Performance Program, which covers 70 main hospitals and aims to boost productivity, performance quality and efficiency of health services in hospitals. The program features over 40 indicators to measure the performance of seven key therapeutic aspects, including emergency, clinics, surgeries, hospitalization, ICU, radiology and labs. The program also aims to develop the skills of health professionals to use the indicators and to identify performance improvement potentials, in compliance with patient safety and quality standards.
