According to Taif Health Affairs, the Ophthalmology Department of King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital has done over 199 cataract and 197 vision correction surgeries over the first half of 2017.
In 2016, the department's specialists and technicians checked more than 24 outpatients, using modern anesthesia through medical drops instead of injections. Likewise, 2,972 major and minor vision correction, corneal transplant and cataract surgeries have been done, using state-of-the-art therapeutic and surgical technologies, including: fundus CT using fluorescein angiography for the diagnosis of retinal diseases. Currently, the department seeks to be accredited as a training center by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties.
