His Excellency the Minister of Health, Eng. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, has highlighted the vital role of sports in improving health, creating healthy generations, and lowering disease incidence rates.
This afternoon, during his participation in the 20th Charity Marathon in Al-Khobar Corniche, under the gracious patronage of His Royal Highness the Governor of the Eastern Region, Al-Falih stated that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is focusing, as part of its current orientations, on the promotion of appropriate healthy lifestyles and disease prevention programs; the matter which is expressed in its new slogan: “Health First”. In this respect, great importance is attached to preventive aspects as being the cornerstone of healthcare.
Within the same vein, Al-Falih has called upon all strata of society to practice any kind of physical activity, especially walking, since it has a positive impact on strengthening the body and fighting diseases, mainly those that emerged in the modern era (e.g. diabetes, obesity, cardiac diseases, etc). Al-Falih added that these diseases have become a nagging concern to health authorities all over the world; due to their high incidence rates and costs of treatment.
