The conference, to be held under the theme (Partnership for Change), will be hosted by the Kingdom as of Tuesday, Moharrum 7th, 1437H (corresponding to October 20th, 2015).

The three-day conference aims at reviewing the latest scientific findings in treatment of obesity and diabetes, highlighting the impact of shortage of qualified and trained cadres on outcomes of the fighting program, the role of technology (knowledge management and distance education) and the role of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States in fighting diabetes and obesity, in cooperation with the investment sector. Also, the conference aims at developing a road map for promoting scientific research, supporting modern methods to deal with diabetes and obesity in the Gulf States, setting a reference guide to cope with the diabetes and obesity by relevant organizations, and boosting cooperation among the bodies concerned, as well as establishment of a higher body to deal with diabetes and obesity diseases (scientific research, treatment and management). In addition, the conference will discuss setting up an education plan about diabetes and obesity diseases, including all medical and non-medical aspects, and developing a database to cover all subjects related to the diseases in the GCC States.

It is noteworthy that the conference is accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) with 25 Continuing Medical Education (CME) hours. The conference will be accompanied by a medical exhibition to be opened by His Excellency the Minister of Health, with participation of government sectors and companies concerned with the field of diabetes and obesity.
