The National Health Laboratory Participates in Saudi Health Exhibition

The National Health Laboratory is participating in the events of the Saudi Health Exhibition, which was opened today (Monday) at Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center. The participation includes organization of the third laboratories conference, titled "Strengthening Readiness and Response of Saudi Laboratories against Ebola Virus", with the aim of promoting awareness of laboratories workers of the basics of dealing with the virus and application of standards of infection control in laboratories to prevent spread of infection in the laboratories. 
 
The Deputy Minister of Health for Laboratories and Blood Banks, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Omar, indicated that the agency, represented by the National Health Laboratory, participates in these events with a number of various educational activities. The conference will be held on the 3rd day of such important health event. 
 
On his part, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Health Laboratory, Dr. Ali bin Muhammad Al-Shanqiti, explained that the 3rd laboratories conference for this year aims at raising readiness and responsiveness of the Saudi laboratories against the Ebola virus, which represents a global threat, in light of the serious consequences resulting from it, and influx of the guests of Allah every year during Hajj and Umrah seasons, in addition to foreign expats from different parts of the world. 
 
 Al-Shanqiti indicated that a group of specialists from inside and outside the Kingdom will address the three-day conference, providing a historical overview of the disease, means of treatment, ways to deal with samples in laboratories and basis of safe dealing with the virus, in addition to an open discussion panel with the public and specialists in this field.
