Training and Scholarships General Department Opens Nomination for External Scholarships

The Training and Scholarships General Department, at the Ministry of Health (MOH), has announced start of nomination for the external scholarships for 750 of its Saudi employees (Title I and self-employment staff) for the year 1436H/2015 for obtaining BA, Master’s degree and PhD in a number of health and administrative specialties.
 
 This comes in line with MOH's strategy aimed to build qualified national competencies capable of providing high-quality health services and within its endeavors to develop capabilities of its employees, and to boost levels of performance in the health facilities; the matter which will help improve health services provided for the citizens. The department explained that receiving of nomination requests will start, Allah willing, on the 13th of Rabei I, 1436H, corresponding to 4th of January, 2015, and will last for two months. 
 
Within the same vein, the department called upon the employees willing to get a scholarship thereby obtaining approval from one of the universities accredited by the Ministry of Higher Education within three months from the start date of  nomination and to submit their requests electronically through their personal accounts on the MOH portal.
 
Meanwhile, MOH's Training and Scholarships General Department has set a scientific mechanism for distributing the 750 available opportunities for the first half of this year as following: 50% of the annual seats (367 seats) are devoted to the physicians and dentists, while the other remaining seats are distributed based on the rate of workers categories from the MOH's health and administrative staff and the standards of manpower in the health facilities for the main specialties, as well as the study conducted in this regard on manpower planning and the list of most needy specialties. In addition, the concerned department's views and recommendations have been taken into account as regards identifying their requirements, taking into account the rare specialties needed by the ministry.
 
It's to worth noting here that the seats decided for the external scholarships cover a variety of specialties. In the field of health specialties, there are 5 seats in nuclear therapy, 10 seats for natural physics, 5 seats for dentistry, 5 seats for physical therapy, 10 seats for occupational therapy, 4 seats forprosthetic limbs, 5 seats for speech therapy, 25 seats for respiratory therapy, 6 seats for ischemic heart, 7 seats for epidemiology, 7 seats for ophthalmology, 4 seats for clinical psychology, 15 seats for clinical nutrition, 2 seats for poison control and forensic chemistry, 20 seats for ambulatory and emergency medicine, 30 seats for laboratories and blood banks, 50 seats for pharmacy program,  85 seats for nursing, and 20 seats for radiology. Further, the scholarships include also 68 seats for the administrative specialties including business administration, health administration, health education and promotion, health information management, comprehensive quality management, clinical risks management and etc..
