Gifts for Pilgrims with Health Awareness Tips Included
16 October 2013
The MOH Media Committee has distributed thousands of gifts on pilgrims at the Holy Places. They included umbrellas and sanitary napkins, along with brochures and flyers containing health awareness tips and guidelines.

Tips on how to avoid heat exhaustion and sun strokes have been put down on umbrellas, underscoring the importance of using an umbrella, and keeping away from direct sunlight, as well as drinking much fluid and taking adequate breaks.

Tips written down on napkins recommended using a napkin to cover the mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, and then disposing the napkin in the trash.

The Hajj Media Committee provided information and statistics on the MOH's concerted efforts in Hajj. Such information shed light on the Ministry's enduring readiness and specialized health programs, aiming at entrenching and promoting health awareness and behaviors, via the website launched by the Ministry of Health under the name: “Pilgrims' Health”, as part of the MOH e-Portal. That is to be added to a health awareness campaign under the theme: “Health is Prerequisite for Pilgrimage.”

Besides, a constellation of high-profile consultant physicians are interviewed at the MOH Media Information and Health Awareness Center, and can be reached via the toll-free number: 8002494444, aside from using social media (Facebook, Twitter and Youtube) to disseminate health tips and guidelines.

In addition to that, the Ministry produces health messages to be aired via radio and TV channels, and websites. MOH workers, besides, distribute health awareness publications and brochures at the land, sea and airports, issued in more than ten languages. That is to be added to a TV show on Channel One, concerned with the health services provided by the Ministry of Health for pilgrims, including also interviews with physicians, who provide medical tips on the topics of concern to pilgrims.
