The Saudi Patient Safety Center continues its awareness initiatives through a strategic partnership with the School Health Department at the Ministry of Health and the Health Affairs Department at the Ministry of Education. The “Salamah Friends” program aims to cultivate student awareness of patient safety and preventive health, empowering them to take an active role in their health decisions. This initiative supports public and preventive health goals, aligning with the Health Sector Transformation Program under Saudi Vision 2030 to foster a vibrant, healthy society.
Targeting primary school students, the program features a series of engaging visual episodes covering key topics such as patient safety, medication safety, and infection control. To date, more than one million students from over 7,000 schools across 16 educational directorates have benefited, in collaboration with five health clusters.
Dr. Ali bin Tala’ Asiri, Director General of the Saudi Patient Safety Center, emphasized that this partnership marks a significant step in empowering the next generation: “Through ‘Salamah Friends’, we aim to raise children’s awareness of patient safety while providing a safe, supportive learning environment that nurtures their growth. The program also involves parents and teachers as essential partners in promoting health and safety within schools and communities.
The “Salamah Friends” initiative exemplifies effective collaboration among key government entities, including the Saudi Patient Safety Center, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Education, embedding health safety awareness from an early age.
