Due to praises of Allah, the vascular surgery team at King Abdullah Medical Complex in Jeddah succeeded in saving the life of a twenty-year-old patient by controlling the aorta from bursting, in a rare and complex surgery that took 10 hours and was crowned, praise be to Allah, with sufficient success. Jeddah Health Affairs stated that the vascular surgery doctors succeeded in saving the life of the patient who came to the emergency and accident department at the medical complex, suffering from a 6 cm long aortic aneurysm in the chest and abdomen, and blood leakage in the same aneurysm, which was accompanied by increasing pain in the abdomen due to a pulsating tumor under the skin of the abdomen. The medical team supervising the case indicated that after conducting the necessary medical examinations, it was confirmed that the patient had a 6 cm long aneurysm in the aorta in the chest and abdomen, which caused blood leakage with the same aneurysm that could explode, causing the patient increasing pain in the abdomen and a pulsating tumor under the skin of the abdomen. Immediately, advanced emergency treatment services were provided, which contributed to controlling the patient's health condition. An arterial stent was immediately installed in the aorta, and an arterial connection to the kidneys and liver, as well as an arterial connection to the intestine arteries. They also clarified that this type of operation that treats the aorta is one of the complex, rare and advanced operations in the field of vascular surgery, which reduces the death rate, Allah willing, as the aorta is the main artery in the body and the expansion of the artery to a certain degree may lead to its explosion due to the difficulty of the patient’s condition, given that the aneurysm includes all the arteries of the stomach, intestines, and the arteries of the kidneys and liver, and it must be removed while preserving the perfusion of the organs, and because of the seriousness of this, it might lead to death of the injured person. It is noteworthy that the Department of Vascular Surgery at King Abdullah Medical Complex in Jeddah performed 65 surgeries during the first half of 2023 AD.
