A medical team at King Khalid Hospital in Najran region succeeded in saving a patient's life and ending his suffering from concomitant heart problems, in a 6-hour surgery that was successfully conducted, All Praises be to Allah.
Najran Health Ministry said: A medical team in cardiac surgery was able, thanks to Allah, to end the suffering of a patient suffering from an irregular heartbeat. Where he underwent clinical examinations and CT scans upon his arrival at the emergency department, which confirmed presence of a severe tachycardia, severe regurgitation of the mitral valve, and an irregular heartbeat.
The medical team treating the case stated that it was decided to perform an urgent operation on the patient to save his life, by replacing the mitral valve and performing a cauterization of the pulmonary veins using bipolar radiofrequency technology, which, thanks to Allah, contributed to the return of the patient’s heartbeat to a regular and normal manner, all praises be to Allah. After that, the patient was transferred to the intensive care unit and his health condition was monitored until stability by the specialized medical teams and nursing staff, stressing that these operations are among the major qualitative operations in open heart surgery.
It is worth noting that Prince Sultan Center for Cardiac Diseases and Surgery was able to perform 31 open-heart surgeries during the first half of this year, and the clinics at the center provided curative, preventive and ambulatory services to 7,327 beneficiaries.
