A medical team at King Saud Hospital in Unaizah in Qassim was able to stop the bleeding and save the life of a 4-month-old baby who had fallen to the ground from a height of two meters, causing severe bleeding in the skull.
Ministry of Health stated that the infant, accompanied by his family, arrived at the hospital emergency room in a state of fainting and unconsciousness. Immediately, he was referred for examinations and analyzes, and to perform the necessary CT scan of the brain, which showed a very large bleeding inside the skull; This caused pressure on the brain's normal position and pushed it toward the other side of the head.
The Ministry stated that the hospital began working on the protocol for such cases, and the injured infant was immediately transferred to the Operations Department, especially after it was noticed that a very dense blood clot had occurred, where the case was prepared for surgery, the operating room was prepared, and blood units were available according to the appropriate type.
The Ministry showed that after general anesthesia, doctors conducted a surgical intervention by opening the skin of the head and skull, removing the collected blood very gently and accurately, and the bloody bleeding stopped, the bone was restored, and the skin was closed completely successfully during a 4-hour operation, after which the infant left with his family after he was temporarily hypnotized in the hospital care unit to check on his general health.
It is noteworthy that King Saud Hospital in Unaizah has performed more than 2,300 surgeries during the first half of this year 2023.
