Ministry of Health: More than (170) Thousand Surgeries were Performed during the First Half of 2023

​​Ministry of Health stated that more than (170) thousand routine (non-critical) surgeries were performed in various surgical specialties during the first half of 2023.

The ministry said that surgeries performed in its affiliated hospitals in all regions and governorates of the Kingdom amounted to (177,744), including general surgery as the highest specialty in achievement by 21%, followed by obstetrics and gynecology surgery by 13%, then eye surgery by 13%, adding that the Secondary and specialized healthcare operations at the National Health Center for Command and Control, in cooperation with Ada’a Health Program, follows up and monitors waiting lists for routine surgeries, ensures service delivery and schedules the operation within 36 days, which is one of MOH’s goals; To enhance ease of access to health services, as the average of patients added to the waiting list is approximately (24,000) patients per month at the level of the Ministry's hospitals, where bariatric surgery, dental surgery, ear, nose and throat surgery, plastic surgery, and pediatric surgery are among the highest specialties in the waiting lists.
