Medical teams in Al-Jouf region were able to perform an urgent surgical intervention to save the life of a young man and stop severe arterial bleeding in the liver, in a successful 90-minute surgery. Ministry of Health in Al-Jouf region said that a medical team specializing in interventional radiology and catheterization at King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital received a call to save the life of a patient suffering from severe hemorrhage in the liver with instability in vital signs. After conducting a clinical, laboratory and radiological examination, it was decided to conduct an urgent surgical intervention to preserve the life of the young man, by performing arterial catheter through the groin and navigating to the arteries inside the viscera under radiological guidance and reaching the bleeding arterial valve that was controlled and stopping the bleeding through it without affecting the other liver arteries. The medical team treating the case confirmed that the surgical intervention took place under local anesthesia, after which the patient was transferred to the intensive care unit to follow up on his health condition by the medical and nursing teams until the condition stabilized then be discharged from the hospital. It is worth noting that the clinics of King Abdulaziz Specialist Hospital in Al-Jouf provided medical services during the second quarter of this year to more than 10351 cases, as the number of cases benefiting from services in the emergency department reached 5381, in addition to providing services to 1402 beneficiaries in the inpatient departments, and the medical teams were also able to conduct 342 surgeries during the same period.
