The Consultative Meeting of Health Ministers of GCC Countries was Held in Al-Ula to promote Health Cooperation

The consultative meeting of health ministers of Gulf Cooperation Council Countries was held last Saturday in Al-Ula, in the presence of His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council, Mr. Jassim bin Muhammad Al-Budaiwi.The meeting was chaired by His Excellency the Omani Minister of Health, Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al-Sabti, who welcomed the participants in the consultative meeting, expressing his thanks to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for hosting the meeting. He also thanked His Excellency the Saudi Minister of Health, Fahd bin Abdul Rahman Al-Jalajel. His Excellency Al-Jalajel said in his speech, "We were honored to host our brothers in the kingdom, Their Excellencies of the Cooperation Council, and this consultative meeting was held to come up with recommendations to enhance joint health cooperation.” His Excellency added: “Today we are witnessing a historic moment when the Director of the World Health Organization announced yesterday the end of the emergency health situation related to the Corona virus (Covid-19), and in our meeting we celebrate this news as Gulf people, and that the concerted efforts carried out in the past years, and the support of Gulf countries leaders has greatly contributed to reducing the effects of this pandemic and protecting health systems. All thanks to the health heroes and health practitioners in the Gulf and in all countries of the world. In conclusion, I would also like to thank the Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council for contributing to the success of both these meetings and the Gulf Work. For his part, His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Mr. Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi, thanked His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of the Sultanate of Oman, Chairman of the current session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council, for his support and efforts carried out to support leaders of the GCC countries, to promote the joint health collaboration. He also thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their unlimited support for the Council's efforts, and thanked His Excellency the Minister of Health, Fahd Al-Jalajel, for hosting this consultative meeting in Al-Ula.His Excellency also praised the great efforts carried out by the Kingdom and its success in implementing one of the largest humanitarian evacuation operations, as it was able to evacuate more than (7848) people from (110) nationalities around the world despite the serious health conditions. He also praised the relief and humanitarian efforts launched by the GCC countries to help the Sudanese people in this crisis and stressed the importance of protecting health practitioners and facilities, and the need for continued provision of medicines and health services. For his part, His Excellency the Omani Minister of Health, Chairman of the meeting, Dr. Hilal bin Ali bin Hilal Al-Sabti, welcomed the participants in this meeting, and during his speech, he thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for hosting the meeting, explaining that this meeting includes various axes closely related to the developments taking place in the region, whether in the aspect of coordination between the GCC countries in international health forums, or in discussing developments in the health field and humanitarian conditions in some regional countries. Their Excellencies the Ministers of Health of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries expressed their thanks to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its initiative to call for this consultative meeting, and their appreciation for its efforts to work to enhance joint Gulf cooperation in the health and preventive fields, and their aspiration to enhance joint health cooperation in order to achieve Gulf health security.
