Ending the Suffering of an Infant from Intussusception without Surgery in Al-Qassim
​​Diagnostic radiologists and pediatric surgeons in Qassim region succeeded without surgical intervention in ending the suffering of a child due to health problems in the intestines that caused him frequent vomiting and abdominal pain. Qassim Health Cluster said that the diagnostic radiologists, in cooperation with the pediatric surgeons at the Maternity and Children Hospital in Buraidah, were able, thanks to Allah, to treat a rare intestinal condition that affected an 18-month-old infant who was brought to the emergency department with his parents complaining of repeated vomiting and abdominal pain, and after a Clinical examination and necessary diagnostic tests, including ultrasound of the abdomen, revealed that he suffers from a rare condition called "intussusception".The medical team treating the case confirmed that the patient was urgently referred to the fluoroscopy unit, and under the guidance and follow-up of the radiology department, the dye was injected into the large intestine of the child. Thus, the sick infant was spared from undergoing surgery and exposure to general anesthesia and its complications, after which the child was transferred to the inpatient departments to follow up on his health condition by doctors and nurses until the condition stabilized and greatly improved after the medical procedure, and he left hospital with his family in good health. It is noteworthy that the radiology department at the Maternity and Children Hospital in Buraidah conducted more than 15,679 examinations of various types of radiology during the first quarter of this year 2023.
