Doctors of the Organ Transplant Center at King Fahd Specialist Hospital (KFSH) in Dammam successfully performed 3,900 organ transplants for patients in the Eastern Province. Eastern Health Cluster stated that these operations included transplantation of kidneys, liver, pancreas, and removal of organs for living and brain-dead donors, since the beginning of work in the center in 2008, so transplantations per month were more than 23 operations, with a total of 278 annual operations. In the past year 2022, doctors at the center were able to perform 182 organ transplant operations, which varied between liver transplants, kidney transplants, and pancreas transplants. Liver transplantation operations reached 60, including 17 children and 43 adults. Kidney transplants reached 120, including 20 children and 100 adults. Pancreas transplant operations are divided into two operations, and this is what the Organ Transplant Center at King Fahd Specialist Hospital in Dammam has achieved.The cluster explained that the center is considered one of the basic competencies in King Fahd Specialist Hospital in Dammam for treatment of various medical conditions for patients of all age groups, through the services provided by the center such as liver transplantation, kidney transplantation, pancreas transplantation, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. It is noteworthy that the Organ Transplant Center at King Fahd Specialist Hospital has achieved several achievements that were comprehensive and integrated with the system of Ministry of Health and related to the vision of the Kingdom 2030, where great achievements were made such as performing the first liver separation operation from a brain-dead patient and transplanting it into two patients on the waiting list, as well as participating in Establishment of organ transplant centers in King Abdullah Medical City in the Holy Capital and Medina.
