The Ministry of Health announced a cooperation partnership with VOV, a video games and esports company, which is part of the savvy Games Group launched by the Public Investment Fund, with the aim of promoting the well-being and health of the community of video game players in the Kingdom.
According to MOH, the cooperation will focus on four main axes, including physical health, mental health, vision therapy, nutrition, opening all VOV rooms for all, providing healthy meals and snacks, in addition to providing resources and services to enhance performance in video game competitions, directing players to awareness health pages and platforms to learn about the egames benefits and risks in the long run.
It is noteworthy that the cooperation started with the launch of an awareness initiative through “Live Well” platform, MOH’s main health awareness platform, and the “Health and Lifestyle” program, during the period from August 17-27, 2022, with the aim of improving players’ behaviors and enhancing healthy lifestyle. The initiative included cooperation with influential players, eclubs and egames companies such as VOV company. The first video game room in Riyadh was launched by VOV company on June 21 of this year and two additional rooms will be opened in 2022.
In the same vein, MOH and VOV Company will launch a series of initiatives to raise awareness of the health and well-being of players, such as physical health initiatives including video games that require active participation, providing variety of healthy food in all rooms, as well as other initiatives to enable access for persons with disabilities. They will also include eye health initiatives, mental health initiatives and other initiatives focusing on helping players suffering from sleep deprivation, insomnia, depression, and anxiety.
