The Ministry of Health (MOH) has equipped all laboratories and blood banks in the holy sites’ hospitals with the state-of-the-art medical devices and enhanced them with qualified Saudi doctors and laboratory specialists for serving pilgrims during this year’s Hajj season.

According to MOH, 23 well-equipped laboratories have been prepared in the holy sites’ hospitals in Makkah and Madinah in addition to setting up 36 blood banks. This year, the holy sites’ hospitals have been linked with the e-hospital system to ensure accuracy of all lab results.

The Ministry, represented by the Support Health Services Center, monitors and supervises laboratories and blood banks to follow up on securing all specialized and emergency examinations for pilgrims, through a multi-stage plan.

It is to be noted that the holy sites hospitals organize a number of blood donation campaigns starting with its staff assigned at the holy sites to supply the blood banks with blood units prior to arrival of pilgrims at the holy sites
