Prince Mutaib bin Abdulaziz Hospital- Sakaka performed 311 surgeries in May.
Within the same vein, the hospital’s medical team has performed a complex colectomy surgery for a patient with a colorectal cancer that has spread through the wall of the colon and penetrated the bladder or small intestine and the tissues nearby.
The medical team has resected the entire tumor during a 5-hour surgery, which included the excision of the right side of the colon (a hemicolectomy), the tumor-infiltrating small intestine and lymph nodes, in addition to the complete separation of the tumor from the main blood vessels feeding the intestines and the nearby tissues without any complications. Then the medical team has performed a surgery to reconnect the healthy areas of the small intestine.
