02 June 2022

His Excellency the Minister of Health, Fahad bin Abdurrahman Al-Jalajel, expressed his thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister, for their approval of the Council of Ministers’ decision to establish the Health Holding Company and the organization of the Center for National Health Insurance.

He explained that the decision reflects the great support and attention given by the wise leadership to develop healthcare services provided to citizens and residents and to harness all capabilities to enhance the quality and efficiency of these services in an endeavor to achieve the ambitious objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030.

“The decision will help raise the effectiveness of the health system performance, making the Ministry of Health (MOH) the regulator and supervisor of public and private health institutions, while the health clusters handle the provision of integrated healthcare services for beneficiaries across the Kingdom”, he said.

Al-Jalajel explained that such a decision lays the organizational foundations to implement MOH’s transformation strategy, which will be carried out in consecutive phases over the upcoming years. In this regard, the health clusters will implement a set of transformational programs with the aim of promoting community health, prevention, and early detection of diseases and health risks. They also aim to raise the level of quality and efficiency of services provided to beneficiaries through primary healthcare development programs such as a doctor for every family, chronic disease care program, development of specialized healthcare services such as caring for patients with cancer and renal failure, improving critical healthcare services to ensure the speedy handling of heart attacks, strokes, and injuries, and to expand digital health programs and virtual medical care services.

He stressed that the decision would contribute to supporting the health transformation process in the Kingdom, and keeping pace with the Saudi Vision 2030.
